Congratulations to David Bolton who is this week’s Andretti Autosport Fan of the Week! David lists IZOD IndyCar Series driver Marco Andretti as his favorite Andretti Autosport driver, not only for the legacy he carries, but also for his hunger to succeed.
In 1984 at the age of 11, Bolton caught the racing bug. Both of his grandparents were dedicated fans having attended the Indianapolis 500 since 1946. Bolton joined his grandmother and instantly fell in love with open-wheel racing and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “I could not believe all the history, the tradition, how fast the cars were and the wall-to-wall people, I get goose bumps every time I walk into the Speedway,” Bolton comments. Since attending his first Indianapolis 500, Bolton continues to join in the 500 festivities each year.
While the Indianapolis Motor Speedway holds many fond memories for Bolton, his greatest racing memory happened in 2011 at the Kentucky Indy 300 at the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, KY. Earlier that year, Bolton had won a single pit and garage pass for the race weekend. During the Firestone Indy Lights autograph signing Bolton chatted with Stefan Wilson, Andretti Autosport driver at the time, and Wilson offered to help. Bolton and his wife were able to watch Wilson win his first oval race that weekend behind the Andretti Autosport pit box.
This IndyCar season, Bolton hopes to see great racing and another series championship win from Andretti Autosport. “I am looking for the best racing in the world this season, I’m looking for all four Andretti Autosport drivers to finish in the Top 10 in points,” said Bolton. “I could see James, Marco and Ryan Hunter-Reay battling it out for the championship.”
Thank you to everyone who submitted a form to become the Andretti Autosport Fan of the Week. Please check back next Friday as we select another winner!
As always, thanks for your amazing support.
