Hinchcliffe Finds Comfort in the Familiar for 2013

The 2012 IZOD IndyCar Season brought a year of new beginnings for the Canadian-born driver James Hinchcliffe. In just his sophomore season with the American open-wheel series he started with a new team and a new sponsor, in a new car with a new engine and sported a flashy new paint scheme.

“Singing on to drive with Andretti Autosport in the Go Daddy car just before Christmas (2011) gave me my first stress-free holiday since about 2005,” recalled Hinchcliffe. “The 12 months since have been a whirlwind. Heading into the season there were a ton of unknowns… There were so many questions and uncertainties heading into the New Year and it made it one of the most exciting off seasons ever.”

Now, a year later, Hinchcliffe will return to Andretti Autosport for the 2013 season. He will again be behind the wheel of the No. 27 Chevrolet and will, for the first time, take comfort in the familiar.

“For me, personally, this is the first time in my career I’ll have the same team for two years in a row,” said the fan favorite. “I’m excited to work with Go Daddy again, have the same crew and not have the learning curve at the beginning of next season. I won’t have a new situation and a new team to learn and settle into and I’ll have the same two teammates which great – it’s just good to know that off the bat we’ll be able to move forward. When the checkered flag dropped in Fontana we were able to immediately start working toward 2013 and we’ll continue to work hard through the rest of the off season.”

IndyCar fans can keep up with the Mayor’s off-season antics by following @Hinchtown on Twitter and making a stop by, and be sure to catch him in the INDYCAR mini-series The Offseason, viewable via YouTube.
