5.01.11 – Persistent rain and poor visibility forced postponement of the Itaipava São Paulo Indy 300 until 8:05 a.m. (Eastern) May 2.
The scheduled 75-lap race will resume on Lap 15, with 1 hour, 19 minutes remaining in the two-hour race time limit.
As of 6 p.m. (Eastern), Andretti Autosport’s drivers are scheduled to restart as follows:
* P6: Marco Andretti
* P20: Mike Conway
* P22: Ryan Hunter-Reay (-2)
* P25: Danica Patrick (-9)
Hunter-Reay missed the entry to the first turn in the wet conditions and struck a tire barrier while Patrick was involved in a multi-car incident prior to the first turn. Conway was running third until just before the final red flag of the day, but encountered electrical problems due to the excessive moisture. Team officials have asked IndyCar officials to reinstate Conway in the third position for tomorrow’s restart.
If weather is a factor again tomorrow, the race is official after the halfway point on time or laps.
VERSUS will carry the conclusion of the race live (8 a.m. ET), and live Timing & Scoring with the corresponding IMS Radio Network call is available at IndyCar.com.
